To Troubleshoot Electrum ECO Stencil Ink issues with an Epson EcoTank printer
- Perform a Printhead Cleaning
- Use a cleaning solution:
- Gather an inkjet cleaning solution, a syringe, gloves, and a folded shop towel. - Access the print head.
- Open the printer and slide the print head to the side, placing the folded towel underneath it to catch any ink. - Flush the print head
- Attach the syringe filled with cleaning solution to the print head and slowly press the plunger, repeating until the print head runs clean on the towel. - Reassemble and test
- Reattach the cartridges
- Move the print head back to its original position
- Run a power cleaning cycle from the printer's utility settings.
Try the "Color Hack"
- Identify the issue - If you're getting faint stencils, the black ink tank may be blocked.
- Change stencil color - In your design software (like Photoshop), change the stencil's color to a dark green, which uses a mix of yellow and cyan inks.
- Adjust print settings - Set the printer to use high quality, select color printing, and print the stencil. This can produce a bold stencil by bypassing the blocked black tank.
Prevent Future Issues
- Print regularly - Print a test page at least once a week to keep the ink nozzles wet and flowing.
- Avoid low ink levels - Refilling ink tanks when they are very low can suck debris into the printhead, causing blockages.
- Keep heads clean - Regular maintenance and printing are the best ways to prevent clogging.
