Cartridges - OPEN TIP vs. CLOSED TIP, what's the difference?

OPEN TIP - These tips are open on the top, allowing the full needle bar to be exposed.  This type of housing is ideal for artists that go between various colors often, as the exposed needle is easier to clean pigment from.

CLOSED TIP - These tips are completely enclosed around the needle bar, which helps control needle stability as well as an enclosed ink well which allows more storage of ink in the tip as well as more controlled flow of ink through the tip.  Ideal for black and grey work and shading.
